Okay, this is the one i'm working on now so any feedback is good. Positive or Negative
I looked out into the never ending darkness. It is odd for me to love and enjoy it so much for my clan of the Elven Race lives off sunlight and sleeps when the moon shines. But for me, I can not sleep a bit when the stars blanket the sky, yet when the glow of the sun comes over the mountain’s peak; I take heed into my forest.
I have a long past behind me, but that’s what happens when you turn 170 (17 human years). So now, I shall briefly share my history with you.
When I turned only 100, I was finally told what my name meant. Most children of Cryptai (My clan of the Elven Race) were told what there names meant at age 70. My name is Mori Kyerme, which means “dark prayer”. I am not like any of other elves in my clan.
I have the same body structure and grow at the same height as everyone else. But my skin is of the paler fashion, my eyes are a deep blue, I have the strength of our strongest wolves, and my canines are slightly sharper. Most girls of the Cryptaian Race have shoulder length hair that is either a luxurious brown or a silky black. But my hair is waist length and looks of liquid silver. The other Cryptaians feed off the sunlight and would die within months if the sun didn’t come up in the mornings. But I sear in the sun and thrive off the light of the moon. My sight at night is like one of an owl, unlike the others who desperately struggle to try and weave through the darkness.
When I was told all of this, the Lord of Cryptai, Anar Heru, banished me to the Darkened Wood, where I would stay; for he believed that I would use my difference as an advantage. He swore that I would stay in this wood forever…
I stood up from my position and shifted my weight before sitting again. While doing so, I noticed a contained fire bobbing in the distance. Slowly climbing down from my tree, I slipped a dagger I found from a slain solider out of its sheath and gave the hilt a firm grip in my hand. Creeping towards the light, I made sure to stay out of sight. Finally close to them, I set my back against a tree until I could hear their faint whispers,
“He said not to kill her… only harm her if necessary…” mentioned one of the men. I sighed, The Lords guards… I peeked around the trunk and measured they were about a meter or two away, what could they possibly want with me?
I gave a quick turn and stepped out in front of them… shocking the horses they were riding to a sudden halt. One of the guards took his spear and placed it under my chin, lifting up my head. He grabbed a lantern from one of the horses and lifted it up to my face to see me better; I squinted when the light came to my eye,
“Ahhh… Ms. Kyerme- “I cut him off.
“What does Anar want with me?” I lifted my dagger up and slowly pushed the spear’s blade out from under my chin.
He sneered,
“This darkness, we don’t know what it’s about. Not even our great minds know. We come for you to forgive Anar Heru and to help us restore the light to our land.”
I backed up a bit, but staying within attacking distance, if needed.
“I like the dark, you all should know that. Besides, he banished me,” I crossed my arms, dagger still in hand, “What could he possibly want with me?”
One of the other guards sighed and shook his head,
“You are the one that can sneak through that dark and live within it, you are strong like-“
“Alright I understand the seeing part, but you have an army…” I jumped up into one of the flourished trees, “use your army, not me.”
The guard speaking stepped forward, looking up the tree,
“Yes, but he wants your help, specifically.”
I dropped behind him,
“Did he say why?” I obviously must have startled him for he jumped and squeaked a bit, I gave a light laugh.
“No. Trust me; I tried to talk him out of coming to you,”
I just stuck my tongue in a childish manner for I knew he could not see me very well,
“But he wouldn’t listen. So you must come with us.”
I slipped the dagger back into the sheath and put it back into my boot,
“You all get a head start, I will catch up.”
The guard shrugged and got upon his horse. Having him turn around, he and the other guard galloped out of the forest,
“3… 2… 1…” I looked at them and sprinted forward. Knowing my way through the forest better then them, I took shortcuts and with my speed, made it out of there before them. Giving a hearty laugh, I sprinted to the Lord’s castle and entered the Dining Hall where I saw Anar Heru sitting in his large throne, waiting for me.
“Welcome back Mori. Long time no see hmm?” He took a sip from his glass which was probably filled with liquor.
I stared with a bit of amazement. Anar was only 190 years old... yet he still manages the high throne. I shifted my weight to one leg and let my head fall to the opposite side,
“So after 70 years… you decide to let me return in peace?” I sighed, “What’s the catch?”
He snickered a bit, “No catch. Just bring back our sun and I shall let you live in this clan once again.”
I gave one jump and landed on the opposite side of the dining table, standing upon it and right in front of Anar. I crouched down to meet his eyes,
“I don’t enjoy this clan. I don’t enjoy this place. And I definitely don’t enjoy you. So tell me, why should I help you? Hmm?”
He looked out the window and nodded. I turned my head to meet where he was looking and saw a few guards on the edge of my forest. Each with fire balls in their hands. At the notion of Anar’s nod, they let the balls drop and hit one of the trees. Suddenly, the tree was ablaze and turning to ash. My body filled with horror and hate,
“That’s what will happen to your forest if you don’t help us.” He stated. He flicked his hand and the fire went out, leaving a tree that looked like it had just been struck by a lightning storm.
I met his gaze, knowing he meant business. I stood up and placed my hands on my hips, looking down at Anar,
“You have my attention, now what do I need to do to keep my forest alive?”
He smiled, “Knew I could convince you. As you have probably noticed, we don’t have the morning or afternoon shine anymore. Since you are the only one who can sneak through the shadows while seeing as if it were day, we ask of you to bring our warmth back.”
“We,” I questioned, “Who else asks for my help?”
“The elves of Cryptai; they know of what you can do evil or not and also beg of your help.”
I crouched back down to meet his eye level. I pondered on his proposal for a moment, even if I do bring the sun back, he will burn my forest anyways, I looked out to the seared tree. Or maybe worse…
“You must give me something in return.”
He set his goblet down and leaned forward, inches from my face.
“What will I have to sacrifice?”
I snickered, “You give me what’s around your head, and I will save my race.”
He looked up to the Athel Loren branch that weaved perfectly around his head. The Athel Loren branch showed who was lord of the Cryptaian race. His smile turned to a slight frown, then back to a smile again.
“I won’t give it up.”
“Then I-” He put his hand over my mouth to stop my talking.
“But I can make you part of it if you wish.” His voice lowered to a whisper.
I didn’t understand what he meant at first. Minutes later, I understood his second proposal. My eyes widened,
“That’s not right. You know nothing of me. It’s not possible! And I know nothing of you in return. It just-”
He stared. “Then I will come with you on your journey and we shall learn of each other and learn to love each other.”
I heard the guards shift after he said this. Things will get uneasy… I flicked from my forest to him But which do I want more…
