Chapter 1

Hero yawned and shuddered. He was sitting in a cold,empty room. " Why am I here?" He thought to himself as he looked at the screen and the man in front of him. Then he remembered. He was being briefed for his first mission as a agent. He sat up and payed close attention. He couldn't miss another thing. " The Shadow King has been turning places like Antarctica and Alaska into tropical islands so he can rule them." The man said coldly. The man's name was John Burness, also know as Agent Claw. He had little hair on his head. He also had a little extra weight around his stomach. Hero's real name was James Reagle, but he was know as Agent Hero, or just Hero. Hero had lots of blonde hair on his head. He was also about 5' 1''. " Why would he want to turn Antarctica into a tropical island?" Hero blurted out before he could stop himself.

"He does it so he can roam freely." Agent Claw replied.

"Can't he do that already?" Hero asked, confused.

"No. He's a shadow, remember?"

"No. I must've missed that part!" Hero said angrily.

Claw looked at him for a second, then continued to brief Hero as if he didn't know the plan already. Hero continued to look a Claw with wide eyes, trying to make it look as if he were paying attention. Hero put his hand through his hair because it kept getting in his eyes.

When the briefing was over, Hero looked for his friend, Matthew. Matthew was also an agent, but he had not received his name. He spotted him running towards him with great speed and in an instant, they were both on the floor, grinning.

"Guess what?" Matthew exclaimed.

"What?" Hero said, trying to show enthusiasm.

"I got my Agent name!" Matthew blurted, a little too loudly.

" What is it?" Hero asked, rubbing his ears in pain.

" Hawk!" He said.

" Welcome to the agency, Hawk!" Hero said happily.



Hero had been in the agency for about a week. Matthew had only been accepted because he was a wiz with computers, and the agency had needed an agent good with computers. The agency was called C2M. C2M was a secret agency, and only agents and their families knew about it. The agency had dealt with the most difficult villains ever. The had dealt with a man who had almost successfully caused the sun to die out. They had also had to take down a woman who had the power to drain half of the water on Earth. There was also another man who could blow up the Earth with the press of a button. Hero and Hawk walked out the door. Before Hero could walk out, Claw was chasing him down.

" Wait up, Hero!" Claw shouted out.
" Why?" Hero asked.
" Because we need you to go to find the Shadow King right now!"
" How am I getting there?"
" By plane!"
" Couldn't you just teleport me?"
" We could, but you might only get your head teleported."
" Why is that?"
" The system hasn't quite been worked out since the last time."
" What happened?"
" We don't really like to talk about it."
" What was the agent's name?"
" He didn't have one, he was a recruit."

Claw dragged Hero to the underground part of the facility. Hero's mouth popped open. He was amazed at the plane he was going to be riding in. It was twice the size of a normal airplane.
