Chapter Three
We waited in the classroom as kids piled in. Some kids laughed at me, the usual, but I just waited. Finally, the teacher came in. "Hello, class! I am Mrs. Roberson, and for all the freshman here, as you can see, you are sharing this class with sophomore's too." I looked around and realized that there were sophomore's here. "Today, everyone is going to say their names and they're favorite thing to do. You start." She pointed to Christina. "Hi, I'm Christina and I like to do art." Now, my turn,"Oh, I'm uh, Katie and I like to play chess." A couple kids in the back laughed but I just ignored them.
Most boys had said they like to play sports or watch TV, and most of the girls said they like shopping and doing sports. So, whatever if I don't like the same things as the other kids, Christina didn't like the same things either.
All Mrs. Roberson talked about was how she's so glad to meet all of us, and that this year we're going to be reading different kinds of books, and learning about all these different words and stuff, the usual.
After talking to us about the first book we were gonna read, she gave us poem books. "In these books, you are to write down your feelings in poems. I will be collecting them every Friday, so you better have four poems for each week! You are not intended to show others, but if you like, you may," Mrs. Roberson told us. I looked at my poem book, it was purple, my favorite color. Christina turned and smiled at me and showed me that she had gotten purple too!
Mrs. Roberson turned to the white board to everyone's right, and said,"This is the homework board, every night, you are to look on this board and write down your homework in the planner that was sent home last month, if you don't write down your homework, you are allowed to come back in after school and write it down. Tonight, all I want you to do is write in your poem book." She wrote that on the board and told everyone to write it down in their planners.
I looked in my backpack,"What the?" I searched around in all my pockets, it wasn't in there! My planner wasn't there! "Oh no!" I whispered loudly as I kept on searching around. Christina tapped my shoulder,"What's wrong?" I looked at her nervously,"I can't.....my planner's not.... it's not there! My planner's not there!" She nodded,"You can use some of my binder paper if you want to." I smiled,"Sure, thanks." She dug inside her backpack and pulled out a piece of binder paper. I took it and wrote down:
