He means that you can add the poll in there and it will keep track of how many people vote for each option. Go to thread tools at the top of the first post. Then click "Add a poll to this thread."

that means you can vote without posting on the thread, you don't need to do any work either, just wait for people to select an oppinion and then press "ok", instead of counting all the votes in the posts, it also defeats the pupose of "Mabye's" in the thread.
