My life as a Freshman
Prolouge:
Hi! My name's Chad Smith. I'm starting high school this year. This is the story of my life. Things get pretty messed up.
Chapter 1:
I walked down the halls of Riverside High. I was nervously looking for my locker and didn't want to make a fool of myself by asking someone about it. After about 10 minutes of searching, I finally found it. I dropped by backpack and opened it. " Oh great!" I thought to myself as I looked for my locker combination. Riiiiiiing! The bell rang, warning us to get to class in 5 minutes. I finally found my combination. I opened my locker and quickly got my books and raced down the hall towards Biology. " Mr. Smith! Where do you think you are going?" Mrs. Wright, my science teacher asked. " To Biology." I replied. " Well then, you are going the wrong way." She said sternly as I looked at a map of the school. I was going the wrong way! " Thanks, Mrs. Wright," I said running the other way. " No running!" she called back.
I finnaly got to Bilology just in time. As I walked in the door, the bell rang. " Just in time, Mr. Smith." my Biology teacher, Mr. Hamilton told me as I climbed into my seat and got ready for the lesson.
Chapter 2
After biology, I had free period. I decided to walk around and get used to seeing stuff in the school. As I walked around, I saw the lunchroom, the gym, and all of my classes. And this is when weird stuff starts to happen. I wasn't paying attention and I bumped into someone I never thought I would see again, my girlfriend! " Hey! I didn't know you went here!" " Me neither!" I thought that I would never see her again! This was something weird. The bell rang and I had to get to History. I ran down the hall and opened the door. I was the first kid here! " Excuse me, may I help you?" The teacher from behind the desk asked me. " Yes I'm here for History." I replied. " This is History B, young man." The teacher replied. " Thanks." I said dashing out of the door. " Great! Just what I need! A demerit!" I thought to myself as I opened the door to my History class. " Thank you for joining us, Mr.?" she asked. " Smith." I said. " Thank you Mr Smith." my History teacher, Mrs. Schlader said. I walked over to my seat and took out my notebook. I copied the notes on the board then started to work on the paper that had been passed to me. Right when I thought everything was going fine, my phone rang! " Mr. Smith. Put the cell phone away or you have detention. I put the phone away, got up and handed the teacher my paper. " Oh! You finished that already?" she asked in amazement. " Yeah. It's not that hard. We learned all of that at the end of last year." I replied calmly. " Well then, you are free to go." she replied standing up and scooting me out the door. I pulled out my cell phone again. I looked to see what was going on. My girl friend had texted me!
Makayla: How R U
Chad: Fine
Makayla: Were U ijn a class when i text u?
Chad: Yea. Don't worry im not in class rite now
Makayla: Y?
Chad: I finished erly
Makayla: O
Makayla: Meet me in the gym in 5 min
Chad: k
I closed my phone and headed off for the gym. Surprise number 2 was on the way and I wasn't ready.
Chapter 3
I entered the gym, almost amazed at what I saw. The whole freshman grade was standing in the gym. " SURPRISE!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!" they cried out! I had completely forgotten that today was my birthday. I just stood there. I had a great time. We danced, ate, and much more! It was the best birthday ever! And, to add on to all of that, I got an awesome present. Then, Makayla took me outside into the school parking lot to show me something I wouldn't have believed if I hadn't seen it. A Car! " Is this for me?" I asked standing there shocked at the present I had recieved. " Yea!" Makayla told me as she handed me the keys. " It's from all of us." Makayla told me. I walked back into the gym to thank everybody.
After all the commotion, we had to return to our normal schedule. I had Physical Education. " Ok people! Today we are going to play dodgeball! Winner gets 2 free passes to the movies!" Mr. Stone, our gym teacher told us. It was a tournament style dodgeball. It was a 1 on 1 game. If you won, you went on. If you lost, that was it. After a couple of games, I was still in. " Smith! Rodriguez! Go!" Mr. Stone yelled as we stepped out on to the court. I was playing in the Semi-Finals. "Jose' Rodriguez vs. Chad Smith." Mr. Stone said as Jose threw a ball at me. I jumped up to avoid being hit, then I launched a ball right towards him. He ducked and picked up a ball. He chucked it at me, and without thinking, I jumped up and caught the ball. " Chad Smith wins!" Stone yelled as I jumped up and down celebrating. I was in the Finals! The benches were filled with all the freshmans, sophmores, juniors, and seniors. " Smith vs Jones!" I ran off into the corner. Jones was a big guy, and he could probably kill me at a close range. The it came to me! If I stayed back, he would have to use more energy in his throws, making him tired quicker. I could win this in the first two minutes! He started hurling the balls towards me, and I kept dodging. After a while, he was so tired, he could barely stand up. I knew it was time to make my move. I picked up a ball, walked up to the edge line, and threw it. The ball seemed to move slowly. Suddenly, with all his strength, Jones jumped at the ball. He was going to catch it. I picked up another ball and threw it. It collided with the first ball, sending it off to the side. The second ball hit Jones in the arm! I won! Students were running on to the court. I was the first kid to have beaten Jones!
Chapter 4
After the big event in the gym, I had to race off to lunch. Beep! Beep! My phone kept beeping until I picked it up.
Makayla: Meet me in lunch rm
Chad: K
Makayla: there r no more surprises
Chad: Good
Makayla: See u in a min
Chad: g2g tchr!
I shut off my phone as the principal walked by me. " Ah! Mr. Smith. Just who I was looking for!" Mrs. Colker grabbed me by the arm and marched me into her office. " What?" I asked nervously. " I was thinking. Your history teacher tells me you finished your work half an hour before the class ended. Is this true?" She asked, smiling now. " Yea. Why?" I asked, confused. " Well. I was considering moving you up a grade." " What?" I cried out. " Yes. You would be a sophmore. Is that ok with you?" she asked. " I'll have to think about it." I replied, a little shocked with the news. " Good. you may go then." I quickly raced out of the room, unable to believe the words that had just come out of my principal's mouth. Skipping a grade? Why would I want to do that? I would have to leave all of my friends behind. I wouldn't be able to date Makayla any more. This was way more than I could handle. I raced down the hall, trying not to cry. I pulled out my phone to text Makayla and Jake
Chad: Guys, gess what!
Jake: What?
Makayla: Tell us!
Chad: Mrs. Colker wants me to skip a grade
Jake: R U serius!
Chad: Yea
Makayla: What did u tell her?
Chad: That i wuld consider it
Jake: dude, u should take the offer
Makayla: Idk, Jake sounds risky
Chad: I no
Jake: Well dude, u culdn't date Makayla nemore could ya?
Chad: Nope
Makayla: Where r u chad?
Chad: On my way to lunch
Jake: C U there
Chad: k
Makayla: Bye
Jake: Bye
Chad: See ya
I closed my phone and walked down towards the lunch room. This was really going to be a crazy year!
Chapter 5
When I got to lunch, I was glad that there were no more surprises. I got in line and got my normal lunch, spaghetti with meatballs, a soda, and chocolate ice cream. I looked around for my friends, but they were no where in my sight. Then just as I was about to sit by myself, my friends called out to me. " Chad! over here!" they were in the popular section! I walked over to them. The person opened the rope and I walked in slowly. I was afraid that I was going to get kicked out like I did in 7th grade.
Flashback
(Chad walks into the popular section)
Chad: Hey! What's up?
Popular #1: Shut up! Loser
pop. 2: who said you could sit here
Chad: The guy at the rope
pop. 3: Get him out of here!
I shuddered at the flashback. It was the same people who had kicked me out in 7th grade. " Hey! What's up?" I asked, just like before. " Nothin' much, dude." one of the kids said. I knew I was popular know. My friends were popular. Everything was great, at least it seemed at the moment.
After lunch, I raced off towards my next class. Math. The class everyone said they used for sleeping. I walked in and took my seat. I was in the rignt class for once! " Hi Chad!" Mrs. Johnson said as I took out my math notebook and began to copy the notes. " Hi Mrs. Johnson." I said back, finishing the notes and started working on the sheet in front of me. When I had finished, I handed her the paper. " Chad, here is the test. You may begin." she said. Test? Nobody told me about the test! I walked back to my seat slowly, looking over the test. It was the answer sheet! " What should I do?" I thought carefully. I walked back to the desk with the paper under a book so I couldn't see the answers. " You gave me the answer sheet." I told her calmly. " You passed the test, Chad!" she said with excitement. " That was the test? To see what I would do with the answers?" I asked surprised. " Yes. You passed. You may go now." she said with a bright smile. " Thanks." I said, walking back to my desk, picking up my stuff and walking back to my locker.
Chapter 6
