well i guess i could participate but could i leave one TV on? so i could have somthing to do
I think that you should find alternate activities to watching TV. You could light some candles. You could read, play cards with family, play charades. You don't need the TV, and you should be able to deal without it for an hour.

I went to the official site and it said March 29th...if that's so that's a problem because I'm going to a play at 7 and it will most likely not be over at 8. Uh oh.
Thats alright! I have a solution. BEFORE you leave for your play, turn off ALL of the lights and electronics and blah blah blah.... Then when you get home, DO NOT TURN ON THE LIGHTS. let it sit like that untill 9:00pm.
So techincally, you'd be saving more energy than most! lol
I will try to participate. Ill ask my mum

Good idea. I think I might just try to do it at an earlier time. Like during daylight hours so I can read.

I erm, ate dinner. In the dark. It was hard. And for the first ten minutes my dad refused to turn off the lights, but then he left. My mom was some-what supportive and turned off everything except the TV (Basketball, Psh). So yeah. I also tried to read my book sitting on the ledge on my window, but I got cold and it was too dark at about 8:10 anyways. So yeah, I pretty much didn't do anything. I wish it was warmer outside.
BTW-If you go to the google homepage, it's completely black because of Earth Hour. They've turned their lights out.

My parents actually DID ours, except I wasn't there. But considering the success of Earth Hour I'm sure that there will be more in the future.
Look at this! This is Toronto during Earth Hour! The little lights at the bottom I assume are cars.

We didn't do it at our house because my mom said she can just turn all the lights off when we go to sleep wgich gives not only 1 hour, but like 6-8 hours!
I was wacthing the news and it said it went down like 11 somethings, (not sure what their called) at 8, but like 10 minutes after, it went back up 9 things. Its really funny really.

yeah, thats what I mean, everyone is basically doing it every night when we go to bed so whats the point in making a special time to turn off all the lights on a certain day? I understand they're trying to make a statement, but we turn all our lights off at night anyways.
