School Essay on why my town should have a skatepark

My towns name + and any of the people I quoted's last name is replaced by #'s. Also a word against BTT Rules is represented by # symbols

A healthy looking teen does a 360° spin in the air receiving cheers from the gathering crowd. He grins widely for today he is the king of the park. Sound intriguing? This scene represents three important advantages of a skate park. Such as, a person’s physical, social, and mental health. Physical meaning a person’s health of their body. Social meaning to socialize with friends, family, and a person’s community. Mental health meaning how healthy the mind is. Proving a skate park is by far a good construction choice for ########## and without it children’s health may be at risk.

Firstly, some children and teens don’t always socialize well. Imagine a shy girl hiding in the corner. Maybe one day she might suffer from depression or commit #######. Now imagine the same girl in a big group of friends chatting together and skateboarding. Socializing has a big impact on a person’s health and self asteem and physical activity is a great way to socialize. Yesenia ####### says, “Skateboarding to me is a great way to meet and hang out with friends.”

Besides socializing, a teen’s mental health can be improved by skateboarding. As Timothy ####### says, “Sometimes I would be so angry that I would run outside and release my anger by skateboarding or shooting hoops.” Mostly your mental health suffers from too much stress or low self asteem. A skate park can help children and teens relieve stress and when they nail a move they feel better about themselves, raising their self asteem.

Lastly, children and teen’s physical health is at risk. Why is it important to stay physically active? Well as stated in the New International Standard Medical and Health Encyclopedia, “Obesity causes over 300,000 deaths each year.” Another quote from that same source states, “A youngster who has been able to avoid physical activity by living in an elevator apartment, riding a bus to school, and watching TV after school hours instead of working or playing could be right on the button as far as weight for his height and age are concerned, but his muscular development and heart and lung capacity could be at the same time at a very low ebb.” These quotes show how your health can be affected by lack of physical activity and a skate park could provide a good amount of exercise.

Therefore, this essay shows that without a skate park children and teen’s physical, mental, and social health is at risk. Proving that a skate park is a great construction idea for #########. The trustees need to see this may be a life or death matter for some.

I'm not sure where to stand on this essay. I think that the less construction in this world the better, but skateboarding is not horrible for the environment either.

I'll need some time to think about this. Good essay though.

i agree with PowerGirl, you have great resons why and excellent details, but the cost for the construction workers, the park itself, the lot where you're going to put it, and a supervisor who is willing to stand and watch kids skate. Sounds kinda hard to raise money for but dont give up send your letter in!!! _

Mmm.....I don't know what to say about this essay. I mean, I love skateboarding A LOT!!!!But, the cost for the construction, let's just say there would be a lot of number's! How would you pay for that anyway? Make more people pay more taxes just for a skatepark?

Just think of a first mom, living in a horrible apartment with twins! A man knocks on the door and tells her that she hasn't been paying her extra fees for the town, and that he's going to evict her. She cries, and asks if she can please stay, but he shakes his head and slams the door in her face. Where will she now live with two babies she loves dearly? She doesn't want to give them away, but she wants them to have a better life, and not die because she cannot pay for medical bills, and if she doesn't eat, she cannot produce milk for them! All because of those extra fees.....

hope that changed your mind, but that's just me....and if you really want a skatepark, try going to one in another town, on your skateboard! That way, you can chat with friends on the way, get more excersise then you usually do, and meet the kids from the other town!

okay, im with you on the whole "going to another town with friends" thing, but the story was just... kinda unreal, if u know what i mean. i mean it totally could happen! dont get me wrong, but i dont think something that dramatic could happen because a skate park opened. and the fees arent that much extra, only maybe a $5 dollars a citizen depending on the size of the town.
