Ok well, I was looking on the BeTween Talk homepage and it says that 72 users were on today at 1:33am (EST that is. . .heh). Does anyone remember being on then? What happened? Was it mostly guests or something? Is it an error?

We have been getting a lot of guest traffic lately. About 5 or 6 new people sign up everyday. I was looking around the internet the other night and was surprised at how many times we are being mentioned on other sites. Thank you all for spreading the word. It is the most fun here when it is the busiest!
Wow, thats kinda late for a bunch of kids to be on the internet, especially since some of us have already started school. But, i think i may have been on at that time last night...I dont remember seeing that many people online though..
You are assuming that the kids are in the US. We actually have a good bit of traffic from England and Australia so they are on completely different time zones. Also, spiders and bots show up as guest and they like to crawl around at night so that could account for some of the late night (US) traffic
Sites like Google, Yahoo, AOL, MSN and many others send out spiders and bots all over the internet constantly. This is how places like google know where to direct people when they are looking for things. For example, when you go to google and type in 'vmk minnie hat' betweentalk.com pops up as the first place to visit. This information was found by a spider or bot.
Spiders and bots are the reason why we do not allow you to post things like email addresses. There are good spiders and bad spiders. The bad spiders discover stuff like email addresses when they are looking all over and send you spam mail. That is why the administrators are the only ones who know your email addresses (to keep you safe).

So you're saying that these aren't really users, just a bunch of guests being lead here from a search engine?

No, she is saying that sometimes they are Users, sometimes guests, sometimes bots, sometimes all 3. Guests are actual users just ones that are not logged in. If you log out and cruise the site it will show you as a guest.

Another thing to remember is that there are kids on here that are homeschooled, kids that go to year round school (which means they have weeks off when others don't but go to school during the summer), and I even know of two American kids on an airforce base in Korea. I think that is pretty cool though and I wish that our members who are not in the US would speak up more so that we can all learn about different areas. I know that locations are not specifically allowed but saying what country or part of the world you are in is fine.
