You know her as Alice Cullen, vampire sister to Bella’s beau Edward. And of course, you know there’s a New Moon. By Twilight, she’s Alice with a bit of a dark side. But by day, she’s Ashley Greene — and she’s definitely a bright spot. We met up with Ashley for some gabs and giggles … and got down to the lighter side of things.

Q: How was it different filming New Moon as opposed to the original Twilight?
A: For me, personally, I just had so much more fun, and I was so much more relaxed and could enjoy myself more. We had already established relationships with each other, so we were this little family. And then, of course, I got to go to Italy, which isn’t too shabby. Waking up to the Tuscany countryside is incredible! I ate lots of pasta.

Q: Who were you closest to on the set?
A: I’m close with different cast members for different reasons. Me and Kellan [Lutz, who plays Emmett Cullen] have always been close. Unfortunately, Rachelle LaFevre isn’t doing the third film, but we were very close on the second film. We were the people who were always like, “Do you want to go out to eat?” and gather everyone together. She and I always worked out together.

Q: What would you say sets New Moon apart from the first film?
A: I know everyone was kind of worried about Edward not being in the movie, but you definitely see some Rob Pattinson, and you really get to see the love triangle between Edward, Bella and Jacob. We also really developed the relationship between Alice and Bella as well, because you didn’t get to that very much in the first one. There were some complaints about, “They’re supposed to be best friends, and you don’t even see them together.” So, we hit on that a little more too.

Q: What has been your craziest fan encounter?
A: There is one person I saw in Vancouver, Italy and London. I was like, “Oh, my gosh, you’re a well-traveled fan!” It’s always craziest when I’m with the guys, because it’s such a female-driven fan base that they just go crazy and cry and shake and scream. With me, it’s just that they want a hug or a picture. Everyone wants to be my best friend because everyone wants to be Alice’s best friend because she’s such a likeable character. That’s actually pretty cool.

The Jonas Brothers’ Super Biggest Fan!

From the Editors of Girl World Daily

So you can’t score a date with a Jonas, but what would be the next best thing? To be one of their best girl buds, right? On the Disney Channel original series “JONAS,” she’s the “super biggest Jonas fan,” Macy Misa. Offscreen? Well, you know what they say about art imitating life. …

Girl World Daily: What would you like to see happen to Macy on “JONAS” in the future?
Nicole Anderson:
I’d like to see Macy develop her friendship with the boys because she started out as this crazy fan. It was like she had two relationships with them. She saw them as Jonas the band but then was friends with the boys in real life. I would like to see how her friendship progresses with them.

GWD: What surprises you about the boys?
NA:
I did not realize how competitive Nick is! If we lost a softball game, it would ruin his day! We played it every lunch break. He definitely took it seriously … but all in good fun.

GWD: You and Chelsea Staub, who plays Macy’s best friend, Stella Malone, are real-life pals, right?
NA:
Oh, yeah. We’ve known each other for, I guess, four years before the show. We met in acting class, and we hit it off. We had sleepovers and became best friends. I originally went for the role of Stella, and it came down to me, her and Demi Lovato. We all had to read with the Jonas brothers, and Chelsea ended up getting it. I was so happy for her. They came back to me and said they’d love for me to read with Chelsea for the role of Macy. I thought, “This is so perfect.”

GWD: Do you go see the Jonas Brothers in concert?
NA:
I went to their shows in Dallas, Los Angeles and Atlanta. I made an appearance onstage in Dallas, and then all of us here in L.A. went to that show. And I did a Jonas Fan Van in Atlanta and got to see them there too. I love “Fly With Me” and “Lovebug.”

Emma’s Pet Project

From the Editors of Girl World Daily

At a huge historic hotel in downtown Los Angeles, dogs are everywhere, outside in the courtyard and inside the hotel lobby — canine craziness for cinema’s sake. The movie centers on 16-year-old Andi (Emma) and her brother Bruce (Jake T. Austin), both way into animal rescue. They live in a foster home — with a no-pets policy. So they turn an abandoned hotel into doggie digs for furry family member Friday (and then some). We catch up with Emma for a little question-and-answer sesh.…

Q: Have there been any on-set bloopers?
A: Well, I had to run out of a building with about 20 dogs following me and the ground was wet. One dog hit my knee, and I fell down and skinned both knees. All the dogs trampled me! I was really upset, but then I was happy because I didn’t have any bloopers before that.

Q: In the movie, you and your BFF have a crush on the same guy. Has that ever happened to you in real life?
A: Yes! Since me and my friends have really good taste, we always like the same boy. But usually we work it out. No one has ever been in a fight over a boy.

Q: Have you ever liked a guy who didn’t like you the same way?
A: I think everyone has!

Q: What kind of dates have you been on lately?
A: When I was in England, I went to dinner and a movie. It was fun. I love England! There are really cute boys. I got to meet Rupert and Daniel [Grint and Radcliffe of Harry Potter] when I was there. Two of the nicest people I’ve ever met.

Q: What’s your favorite thing to do in L.A.?
A: My friends and I go out for sushi every weekend.

Q: What are your essentials for having a good party?
A: The worst thing is when you’re in a big space and there’s not a lot of people. That makes it awkward. It’s nice to let people bring other friends because then you can meet new people.

Zac’s Ba-ack!

From the Editors of Girl World Daily

We seriously don’t know one girl who isn’t gaga over Zac Efron. Our fave leading man goes back to school for his new flick 17 Again, but it’s a far cry from East High. In this “you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone” comedy, Zac flexes his funny bone and…well, we’ll let him fill ya in on the rest.

Q: In the film, your character, Mike, goes back in time to relive his “glory days.” Now that you’re 21, what would you love to relive from the year you were 17?

A: I remember so many good times. Me and five of my very close friends had an improv troupe, and we traveled across the country to perform in competitions. Also, I was doing speech and debate when I was 17. That was very fun. The highlight was probably taking second place at Berkeley, which is a pretty big competition.

Q: When Mike first goes back to high school, he’s kind of dorky and doesn’t fit in. Have you ever felt that way in real life?

A: Completely. High school is one of those weird times in your life when you become hyperaware of where you are in the social hierarchy. It was my sophomore year when I realized I wasn’t at all the coolest kid in school. I didn’t want to be — I was more focused on grades and things like that. I had my core group of friends, and we were inseparable.

Q: Matthew Perry of TV’s Friends fame plays the older version of your character. Did you find yourself mimicking him, or did you keep your character separate?

A: A little of both. Definitely the hardest thing to imagine was what Matthew would have been like as a 17-year-old, and that was fun to figure out. Talking with him on set, I got the feeling all his amazing wit and incredible timing and trademark smirk would have been more animated as a teenager, so that was the creative license to do an off version of Matthew. That’s what I did. I kind of just hung out with him, got a sense of his personality.

17 Again opens in the United States on April 17, 2009.

Celtic — and Cute!

Celtic — and Cute!

From the Editors of Girl World Daily

In case you haven’t heard the name, Celtic Thunder is a group of five male vocalists from Ireland who belt out traditional Irish tunes, as well as some originals and modern classics — and they’re rapidly gaining popularity. We caught up with Damian, the youngest cutie of the clan, as he and his bandmates storm the States.

Ireland Calling
Celtic Thunder is nearing the end of a 48-city concert tour, and Damian is just a tad homesick. Still, he takes the time to phone us up for a chat between calls to his home in Northern Ireland. He misses his family and friends. And he misses his girlfriend Jenna. “I talk to her every few days,” he tells us. “But at the moment, I’m really enjoying my time out here. The tour is ending Dec. 17, then I go home, and I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone.”

Lightning-fast Blast
Damian won’t be home for long before hitting the road again in March 2009. The current tour kicked off in October 2008 at the world-famous Radio City Music Hall in New York City. “My family came to the Radio City show, and it was their first experience of America. It’s kind of weird that their first experience was to see me perform. Our first performance was in Dublin, but we’re focused on America for now. If all goes well, we’ll end up in Europe eventually. Some of the other guys have toured, previous to this, to places such as Germany, Belgium and Canada.”

Doin’ Some Damage
Flash forward to the next evening after our phone call….Celtic Thunder is onstage — another show, another packed arena. And Damian is a standout. Girls in the audience shriek when he steps out onto the stage for solos, particularly during his rendition of ’70s pop hit “Puppy Love.” The adult men of the group look polished in their tailored suits and shiny dress shoes, while Damian is endearingly disheveled. His Converse sneakers peer out from beneath the hem of his baggy dress pants, a left shoelace slightly untied, his white collared shirt not quite tucked in all the way. While the other singers switch up their outfits frequently throughout the show, Damian does only one wardrobe change: For the encore act, he wears a skirt. (OK, it’s a kilt.)

Storm Chasers
One might mistake this for a Jonas Brothers event, as a slew of lucky fans are lined up after the performance for a meet-and-greet with Damian and Keith Harkin, the 23-year-old hottie of the group. Girls are giddy with excitement, clutching their CDs and waiting for Sharpie signatures and snapshots. Outside the venue, another crowd accumulates, hoping to get a glimpse of the guys as they board their tour bus before heading to another city. Next!

The Forecast
We meet up with Damian backstage, and he’s every bit as charming in person. And he’s even cuter close up than he appeared from our seats in the arena. He had told us on the phone how important his education is to him, in case the music doesn’t take off for the long haul, but he says, “A hundred percent, I want to be a singer all my life.” We certainly predict a long-running musical career for this dynamo from Derry, whose charged-up performance ended with a standing ovation.
