E3 Announcments!

Hey everyone,

Some of you might have heard that E3, THE video game conference, has been going on this week and there have been some incredible announcements!  From the three videogame giants, Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony, there have been an avalanche of new titles and hardware to expect in the coming year.

  1. The announcement that we have all been waiting for: Project Natal has been officially announced, only now it is called The Kinect.  I must say that I have my reservations about a serious motion control interface due to the way that the Wii handled it. However, this does seem to be different from waving a wand around because YOU get to be the controller!
  2. This was leaked several days before E3 so it wasn’t much of a surprise but it is still awesome!  Microsoft announced a new Xbox 360 which will be for sale in stores very soon, within the month!  This new Xbox will have internal wireless, a 250 gig hd, and has a lower failure rate than its predecessor.
  3. Lastly, many games were announced from Microsoft such as: Bodycount, Fallout New Vegas, Dead Space 2, Gears of War 3, Halo Reach, NBA Elite 11, Fable 3, Modern Warfare 2 DLC, Call of Duty Black Ops, Sims 3, Crysis 2, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 ‘Vietnam’, Bulletstorm, and Driver San Francisco.

  1. Sony has already announced their motion control peripheral, the Sony Move, so some more details have surfaced about the hardware such as a $50.00 price tag and some peripherals for the Move.
  2. Sony hasn’t really announced much else other than some new titles that we all knew where coming to the system: Kill Zone 3, Motorstorm 3, Sly Cooper Collection, a Sony Surround System made specifically for the PS3, Valkyria Chronicles 2, Pac-Man CE for PSP and PS3, and the Conduit 2.

  1. Nintendo never fails to show something incredible and kid friendly at all E3’s and they didn’t disappoint this time.  First, their 3DS was announced which is in fact a 3D Nintendo DS.  The graphics have been upscale to the point of, if not higher than, the PSP.  This new system does have 3D which can be enabled by use of a slider which slowly gives or takes away depth to the top screen.  The lower screen does not have 3D possibility, but it has been given a much more responsive touch screen.  This new DS looks to be a huge improvement over the past ones and is most definitely a buy.
  2. Here is a list of games that Nintendo has announced for both the Wii and the DS:  Pac-Man Party, Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Mario Sports Mix, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, GoldenEye 007, Just Dance 2, Epic Mickey, Kirby’s Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Nintendogs plus Cats, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.

E3 is always an exciting time for gamers and this E3 hasn’t disappointed.  I look forward to all of the other exclusives that will no doubt continue until Sunday when E3 is officially finished.

Thank you,
